On February 19th, our team departed for a 12-day medical missions outreach in Mali. We are partnering with the staff of the Hospital for Women and Children in Koutiala, along with a Malian pastor, to provide medical services in the more rural areas.

Power outages and unreliable internet connections caused us to finish posting the blog after we returned... keep checking, more is coming.

CLINIC & OUTREACH

So much happened during the first day of "Village Clinic" that words fail to describe the scope of what was accomplished and the lessons learned that will be applied to the next clinic (and the one after that). Maybe by showing some of the photos that were taken that day, can we begin to describe it (on the premise that 'a picture speaks a thousand words'). The photos focus on our team, but there were so many hospital staff members who spent countless hours in the preparation to make this first trial clinic a success. Over 480 patients (women and children) were seen in about 6 hours. We go back tomorrow to have clinic for the men.

For photos of our first day in clinic, click here.

What can't be shown, because it was after sunset and too dark for photos (and it gets really dark with no electricity other than generator power), is the spiritual outreach that took place as the pastor showed a movie about tribal life and the influence of animism and spirit influence and presented the Gospel and the power to overcome evil. I observed powers of light and darkness on their faces and their actions - like one man storming off, physically unable to hear and tolerate the truth as a friend tried to discuss it

Stay in touch for updates.

It's incredible that we can hear daily what's going on in Mali.
Technology is amazing & wonderful.
Tell Nancy that her family said hello. All of us are checking the blog daily....even her Mother! Friends & neighbors of Mom are relaying what is said in the blogs and printing them off for her daily.
All is well here.
Blessings to you all.
