On February 19th, our team departed for a 12-day medical missions outreach in Mali. We are partnering with the staff of the Hospital for Women and Children in Koutiala, along with a Malian pastor, to provide medical services in the more rural areas.

Power outages and unreliable internet connections caused us to finish posting the blog after we returned... keep checking, more is coming.

e-Bible Presentations

We had the opportunity to take four electronic Bibles from “Faith Comes By Hearing” which has developed a rugged rechargeable battery unit that can use a built-in solar panel, a hand crank generator or an AC/DC plug-in adapter to recharge the batteries. This unit allows illiterate people to hear the gospel of the New Testament in their language (in this case, Bombara, the language in Mali). They have a built-in speaker powerful enough to be heard in a room with a dozen people, or privately with earphones.

We presented these 4 units to Malian pastors who are in key positions, such as the chaplains at the Koutiala hospital, and the seminary graduate pastors who are serving in the two villages where we had clinics. They were VERY appreciative of the gift.

At the Koutiala Women's and Children's Hospital, Shawn and Vaughan presented e-Bibles to Chaplains Moeze (Moses) and Enoch Coulibaly, who encounter all the patients coming to the OB/Gyn surgical, maternity and pediatric clinics.

The pastor serving Tempela is Simeon Ballo. He was present throughout the day while we were conducting clinic, he ate dinner with our medical contingency, and presented the message with the compelling movie portraying the evil of false gods and dark-art practices of the Shaman, who casts spells and curses.

The fourth Bible went to the pastor who lives in the vicinity of Bobola Zargassa.
